John D. Tennant
John Tennant is a native of the Central Coast. He was born in San Luis Obispo, CA, and raised in Arroyo Grande. He graduated from Arroyo Grande High School before attending Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science. John then returned to the Central Coast, working first as a special education paraeducator for San Luis Coastal Unified School District before joining the legal field.
After nearly a decade working for the Santa Barbara County Court in Santa Maria, he and his wife, Kristina, moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where he pursued a law degree at Creighton University School of Law. John was admitted to Creighton’s accelerated juris doctor program, completing his law degree in two years rather than three. While attending law school he completed a judicial externship with a local judge.
John is excited to be back home on the Central Coast to serve the community that has always supported him. When not in the office, John can be found grilling in a backyard for friends and family, or backpacking in Big Sur.
