Aaron B. Smith

Aaron Smith was born in Santa Maria, CA and raised in Orcutt, CA. As a youth, Aaron participated in many activities offered throughout our valley ranging from youth sports, to volunteering at “Kids Day in the Park,” to horseback riding and participation in cattle drives. Aaron graduated from St. Joseph High School and went on to earn his Associate of Arts Degree from Allan Hancock College. He received his undergraduate education at California State University, Fresno where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree.

Aaron’s career plans abruptly changed in January 1998 when he was involved in a ski accident. Aaron broke his neck and became a level C5/C7 Quadriplegic at the age of 25. After his injury, Aaron received an endless amount of support and encouragement from the Central Coast community. He discovered quickly that we genuinely live in an amazing community where people are always willing to lend a helping hand. Aaron has been striving to pay it forward ever since he saw first-hand how kindness and compassion of locals can have a lasting positive impact on a person’s life.

Once Aaron was strong enough, he began searching for a career where he could give back to the community who provided him with so much support and inspiration during his time of need. Thanks to the suggestion and support of a local judge, Aaron decided to become an attorney.

In January 2004 Aaron graduated from The Santa Barbara College of Law, where he excelled in all subjects. He subsequently passed the California State Bar on his first try and became an attorney in July 2004. Aaron began his career as a lawyer in the same community in which he grew up. After obtaining extensive experience as an associate attorney working for a local, well-respected attorney, Aaron opened his own law firm in January 2010. Aaron’s office is located in Old Orcutt, and he enjoys serving the central coast community.
Aaron’s areas of practice include estate planning, trust administration, probate, real estate transactions, business transactions, and landlord/tenant issues. Aaron loves what he does and looks forward to helping his clients navigate the complexities of the law.

In addition to being an attorney, Aaron has many other activities that he enjoys doing. He coaches his son Cooper’s youth sports teams, enjoys dining in the wonderful local restaurants with family and friends, and is involved in several local organizations. He volunteers at the Santa Maria Valley YMCA and is the current president of the Santa Maria Valley Y Foundation. He is the past president of the Northern Santa Barbara County Bar Association. He volunteers at local hospitals and rehabilitation facilities offering advice and being a mentor to those who have suffered spinal cord injuries. He also volunteers at career day at local schools professing the benefits and satisfaction of being a lawyer.

Aaron has also offered his legal expertise by conducting presentations put on by organizations such as the Alzheimer’s Association and the Santa Maria Association of Realtors. Other organizations that Aaron and his wife, Allison support include:
